We never really planned to open a shop.
Juno Records began life as The Dance Music Resource Pages, launched in March 1996 as a listings site for DJs, with information on new records added each day as they were released.
Online retail was still largely unknown back in those early days of the internet – Amazon had only launched the previous year – but within weeks The Dance Music Resource Pages began receiving emails asking how to purchase the records. Realising that there was a gap in the market for mail order vinyl sales, we launched Juno Records and began selling directly to DJs.
A little over 24 years later, Juno Records is the world’s largest independently owned dance music and equipment store, currently adding over 500 new releases to our catalogue each week, and with more than 45,000 titles in stock. We’re proud to have built a strong reputation for new and back catalogue music, DJ and studio equipment.
As a store we cover everything from the latest club vinyl and the more downtempo side of the dance floor, through to rock, jazz and everything in between. We also supply a wide range of DJ, Hi-Fi and studio gear, with a specialist team helping out equipment customers. Our showroom is set up with various DJ and studio gear but is currently closed due to the situation.
We also distribute and export dance and electronic music via Juno Distribution. We sell to all the major wholesalers and hundreds of stores worldwide, and have an expanding roster of independent labels whose music we believe in.
As we’ve branched out from dance music vinyl to other genres and equipment, our aim has always been to provide great service. We pride ourselves on the fact that you can call us for a chat about the latest techno white labels, advice on the best headphones or details of a forthcoming classic rock reissue. We strongly believe that customer service and fast delivery are just as important as the products themselves.
In recent months we’ve had to react to the coronavirus pandemic and the changing world around us. Our priority has been to protect our staff while continuing to serve the global music community. Our social distancing efforts mean that almost all Juno staff are now working from home, with our warehouse reorganised to ensure that our post room staff can work safely, maintaining distance from each other while continuing to pack and ship orders.
Nearly a quarter of a century into our journey, a lot has changed. The one constant is our love of music in all its forms.
