Vinylstore Jr is a small independent record shop in Canterbury, Kent. We opened in 2016 and we are named after a weak Dinosaur Jr pun, which tells you pretty much where our heart lies.
We mostly stock new releases on the indie/alternative side of things, along with some classic reissues, some jazz, anything we like (or think you will like) really!
We only stock vinyl, just because otherwise the shop name wouldn’t make any sense…. We also sell secondhand records, it is a VERY mixed bag. Some of it, but by no means all, is listed here: Discogs
We have continued to trade during the Coronavirus crisis, offering free local contactless delivery to all our lovely customers in and around Canterbury, coupled with a daily trip to the Post Office for those further afield.
It’s mostly a one-man operation, with myself (Nick) ably assisted by a team of Mark, Adam, Gina, and occasionally my son Jake. We host regular live music instore, mostly local bands, but we’ve also had some fab memorable ones by the likes of Slaves. So what else? We love the idea of “Love Record Stores”. It’s always nice to get a bit of love. And we send our love out to all our fellow shops. We are not very good at writing blogs…
